On behalf of the Organizing Committee and on behalf of the Focus Area Cultural Heritage (FACH) of the European Construction Technology Platform, we are delighted to invite you to attend the International Conference and Brokerage Event on the Construction aspects of built heritage protection in Dubrovnik, Croatia from 14 to 17 October, 2006. The main objective of the Conference is to identify and discuss research needs for the construction aspects of protection of built heritage and to prepare interested researchers for cooperation within the forthcoming seven years period of 7th Framework Programme of European Union. The message of Conference will be formulated by document named "Carta Dubrovnik 2006" that will briefly summarize the conclusions of Conference.
We have received and accepted papers which cover different aspects of built heritage protection. They will all be presented as posters and published in full color, fine print Proceedings which will be given to all the participants at the beginning of Conference.
The technical program will cover the wide range of aspects of involvement of construction sector in build heritage protection emphasizing the multidisciplinary approach that takes into consideration the influence of interventions on post intervention life of heritage object.
The Member of European Parliament, Prof. Cristina Gutiérrez who is well known expert in heritage protection, will open the Conference giving the key lecture. Several other eminent experts in the field of the heritage protection and representatives of EU DG Research, DG ENTR and COST have also accepted to deliver their Keynote lectures. The special part of Conference will be the Brokerage event. It will be unique opportunity for researchers to exchange their ideas about needed future research and creating proposals for projects that may be supported by funds available from EU FP7 calls. The leading slogan of event is "A Living Cultural Heritage for an Attractive Europe - New strategies, concepts, methodologies and techniques for preventive conservation and sustainable intervention in the cultural heritage for increasing the attractiveness of the European territories, cities and buildings".
We are very pleased to announce the ECTP Focus Area Cultural Heritage Plenary Assembly that will take place at Conference venue in the afternoon of October 14 2006 and invite all attendees of Conference. Our social gathering will feature fine dining and entertainment, where the city of Dubrovnik itself promises memorable and breathtaking experience!
